We're hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to own critical services on our platform, from design through production. Responsibilities: - Design, build, and operate backend services handling high-volume production traffic - Own a core service end-to-end: API design, data modeling, performance, and on-call reliability - Lead system design for new features, weighing tradeoffs in consistency, latency, and cost - Mentor engineers on code quality, architecture, and debugging production issues - Collaborate with product and frontend teams to ship features end-to-end Requirements: - 5+ years building production backend systems - Strong proficiency in at least one of Node.js, Python, or Go - Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), including schema design and query optimization - Experience with message queues / event-driven architecture (Kafka, SQS, or similar) - Comfortable owning services in a cloud environment (AWS preferred) - deployment, monitoring, incident response - Strong communication skills - able to explain technical tradeoffs to both engineers and non-engineers - Bonus: experience mentoring junior engineers or leading a small team
